Introduction to Prophets
At the start of time, nothing existed except for Allah, the All Powerful. No humans, No Planets, Nothing at all. Then, Allah decided to create everything he wished. He created the Universe. He created everything we see including the Sun, Moon, stars, planets, paradise and hell. 
There were three special creations He gave life to:
The Angels from light to worship Him and obey all His commands. Angels cannot do anything by their own choice. They have been assigned duties by Allah and incredible powers to perform them.
The Jinns from fire. Jinns have free will, giving them the ability to choose between good and evil, unlike Angels. So, we have good and bad Jinns.
Mankind, you and I, from clay. We also have the ability to choose between good and evil.
How do we know about all of these wonderful creations of Allah?
We know all this from Allah himself through His books which He revealed to His Messengers. Allah selected the best of the people to be His Prophets and Messengers. They were sent to different nations at different times to guide mankind towards the right path.
Why did Allah reveal Books?
Allah gives the answer in the Quran:
“A Book, We have revealed it to you (O Muhammed), blessed, so that they may ponder deeply over its verses and so that those with intellect may take a reminder from it.” (Surah Sad, 38:29)

Why did Allah create us?
Allah says in the Quran:
“And I (Allah) created not the jinn and men except they should worship Me (Alone)” (Surah Adh-Dhariyat, 51:56]

Why did Allah send Prophets and Messengers?
Allah says in the Quran:
“Messengers were sent as bringers of glad tidings and as warner’s so that the people should have no excuse with Allah after the sending of the messengers. And Allah is ever All Mighty, All Wise.” (Surah An-Nisa, 4:165]
Those who obey Allah will be rewarded in Paradise and those who disobey will be punished.
It is an integral part of faith of every Muslim to have a firm Belief in Allah, in His Angels, in His Books and in His Messengers.

How many messengers were sent?
There were one hundred and twenty four thousand prophets and messengers with Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) being the last and final one. We will learn about the 25 Prophets mentioned in Quran.
Why learn about these stories?
We should learn about these stories as there are many life changing lessons for us in them. Allah tells us in the Quran:
“In their stories there is truly a lesson for people of reason” (Surah As-Sajdah, 32:9)
