وَٱلْقَمَرَ
wal-qamara
And the moon
قَدَّرْنَـٰهُ
qaddarnāhu
We have ordained for it
مَنَازِلَ

حَتَّىٰ

عَادَ

it returns
كَٱلْعُرْجُونِ
kal-ʿur'jūni
like the date stalk
ٱلْقَدِيمِ
l-qadīmi
the old
﴾39﴿
لَا

Not
ٱلشَّمْسُ
l-shamsu
the sun
يَنۢبَغِى
yanbaghī
is permitted
لَهَآ
lahā
for it
أَن
an
that
تُدْرِكَ
tud'rika
it overtakes
ٱلْقَمَرَ
l-qamara
the moon
وَلَا
walā
and not
ٱلَّيْلُ
al-laylu
the night
سَابِقُ
sābiqu
(can) outstrip
ٱلنَّهَارِ ۚ
l-nahāri
the day
وَكُلٌّۭ
wakullun
but all
فِى
fī
in
فَلَكٍۢ
falakin
an orbit
يَسْبَحُونَ
yasbaḥūna
they are floating
﴾40﴿
وَءَايَةٌۭ
waāyatun
And a Sign
لَّهُمْ
lahum
for them
أَنَّا
annā
(is) that
حَمَلْنَا
ḥamalnā
We carried
ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ
dhurriyyatahum
their offspring
فِى
fī
in
ٱلْفُلْكِ
l-ful'ki
the ship
ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
l-mashḥūni
laden
﴾41﴿
وَخَلَقْنَا
wakhalaqnā
And We created
لَهُم
lahum
for them
مِّن
min
from
مِّثْلِهِۦ
mith'lihi
(the) likes of it
مَا
mā
what
يَرْكَبُونَ
yarkabūna
they ride
﴾42﴿
