وَلَوْ

وَٱتَّقَوْا۟
wa-ittaqaw

surely We (would have) opened
عَلَيْهِم
ʿalayhim
upon them
بَرَكَـٰتٍۢ
barakātin
blessings
مِّنَ
mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ
l-samāi
the heaven
وَٱلْأَرْضِ
wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَـٰكِن
walākin
but
كَذَّبُوا۟
kadhabū
they denied
فَأَخَذْنَـٰهُم
fa-akhadhnāhum
So We seized them
بِمَا
bimā
for what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used to
يَكْسِبُونَ
yaksibūna
earn
﴾96﴿
أَفَأَمِنَ
afa-amina
Then did feel secure
أَهْلُ
ahlu
(the) people
ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ
l-qurā
(of) the cities
أَن
an
that
يَأْتِيَهُم
yatiyahum
comes to them
بَأْسُنَا
basunā
Our punishment
بَيَـٰتًۭا
bayātan
(at) night
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
نَآئِمُونَ
nāimūna
(were) asleep
﴾97﴿
أَوَأَمِنَ
awa-amina
Or felt secure
أَهْلُ
ahlu
(the) people
ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ
l-qurā
(of) the cities
أَن
an
that
يَأْتِيَهُم
yatiyahum
comes to them
بَأْسُنَا
basunā
Our punishment
ضُحًۭى
ḍuḥan
(in) daylight
وَهُمْ
wahum
while they
يَلْعَبُونَ
yalʿabūna
(were) playing
﴾98﴿
