عَلَىٰٓ
ʿalā
against
أَنفُسِهِمْ ۚ
anfusihim
themselves
وَضَلَّ
waḍalla
And lost
عَنْهُم
ʿanhum
from them
مَّا
mā
what
كَانُوا۟
kānū
they used to
يَفْتَرُونَ
yaftarūna
invent
﴾24﴿
وَمِنْهُم
wamin'hum
And among them
مَّن
man
(are those) who
يَسْتَمِعُ
yastamiʿu
listen
إِلَيْكَ ۖ
ilayka
to you
وَجَعَلْنَا
wajaʿalnā
but We have placed
عَلَىٰ
ʿalā
over
قُلُوبِهِمْ
qulūbihim
their hearts
أَكِنَّةً
akinnatan
coverings
أَن
an
lest
يَفْقَهُوهُ
yafqahūhu
they understand it
وَفِىٓ
wafī
and in
ءَاذَانِهِمْ
ādhānihim
their ears
وَقْرًۭا ۚ
waqran
deafness
وَإِن
wa-in
And if
يَرَوْا۟
yaraw
they see
كُلَّ
kulla
every
ءَايَةٍۢ
āyatin
sign
لَّا
lā
not
يُؤْمِنُوا۟
yu'minū
will they believe
بِهَا ۚ
bihā
in it
حَتَّىٰٓ
ḥattā
Until
إِذَا
idhā
when
جَآءُوكَ
jāūka
they come to you
يُجَـٰدِلُونَكَ
yujādilūnaka
and argue with you
يَقُولُ
yaqūlu
say
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟
kafarū
disbelieved
إِنْ
in
Not
هَـٰذَآ
hādhā
(is) this
إِلَّآ
illā
but
أَسَـٰطِيرُ
asāṭīru
(the) tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
﴾25﴿
