يَـٰٓأَهْلَ

O People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
لِمَ
lima
Why do
تَكْفُرُونَ
takfurūna
you deny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ
biāyāti
[in] the Signs
ٱللَّهِ
l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antum
while you
تَشْهَدُونَ
tashhadūna
bear witness
﴾70﴿
يَـٰٓأَهْلَ
yāahla
O People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
لِمَ
lima
Why
تَلْبِسُونَ
talbisūna
do you mix
ٱلْحَقَّ
l-ḥaqa
the truth
بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ
bil-bāṭili
with the falsehood
وَتَكْتُمُونَ
wataktumūna
and conceal
ٱلْحَقَّ
l-ḥaqa
the truth
وَأَنتُمْ
wa-antum
while you
تَعْلَمُونَ
taʿlamūna
know
﴾71﴿
وَقَالَت
waqālat
And said
طَّآئِفَةٌۭ
ṭāifatun
a group
مِّنْ
min
of
أَهْلِ
ahli
(the) People
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ
l-kitābi
(of) the Book
ءَامِنُوا۟
āminū
Believe
بِٱلَّذِىٓ
bi-alladhī
in what
أُنزِلَ
unzila
was revealed
عَلَى
ʿalā
on
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟
āmanū
believe[d]
وَجْهَ
wajha
(at the) beginning
ٱلنَّهَارِ
l-nahāri
(of) the day
وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟
wa-uk'furū
and reject
ءَاخِرَهُۥ
ākhirahu
(at) its end
لَعَلَّهُمْ
laʿallahum
perhaps they may
يَرْجِعُونَ
yarjiʿūna
return
﴾72﴿
