lakuntum
surely you would have been
مِّنَ
mina
of
ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ
l-khāsirīna
the losers
﴾64﴿
وَلَقَدْ
walaqad
And indeed
عَلِمْتُمُ
ʿalim'tumu
you knew
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
those who
ٱعْتَدَوْا۟
iʿ'tadaw
transgressed
مِنكُمْ
minkum
among you
فِى
fī
in
ٱلسَّبْتِ
l-sabti
the (matter of) Sabbath
فَقُلْنَا
faqul'nā
So We said
لَهُمْ
lahum
to them
كُونُوا۟
kūnū
Be
قِرَدَةً
qiradatan
apes
خَـٰسِـِٔينَ
khāsiīna
despised
﴾65﴿
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا
fajaʿalnāhā
So We made it
نَكَـٰلًۭا
nakālan
a deterrent punishment
لِّمَا
limā
for those
بَيْنَ
bayna
(in) front
يَدَيْهَا
yadayhā
(of) them
وَمَا
wamā
and those
خَلْفَهَا
khalfahā
after them
وَمَوْعِظَةًۭ
wamawʿiẓatan
and an admonition
لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ
lil'muttaqīna
for those who fear (Allah)
﴾66﴿
