ٱللَّهُ

Allah
قَالُوا۟

they said
بَلْ

Nay
نَتَّبِعُ
nattabiʿu
we follow
مَآ
mā
what
أَلْفَيْنَا
alfaynā
we found
عَلَيْهِ
ʿalayhi
[on it]
ءَابَآءَنَآ ۗ
ābāanā
our forefathers (following)
أَوَلَوْ
awalaw
Even though
كَانَ
kāna
[were]
ءَابَآؤُهُمْ
ābāuhum
their forefathers
لَا
lā
(did) not
يَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūna
understand
شَيْـًۭٔا
shayan
anything
وَلَا
walā
and not
يَهْتَدُونَ
yahtadūna
were they guided
﴾170﴿
وَمَثَلُ
wamathalu
And (the) example
ٱلَّذِينَ
alladhīna
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟
kafarū
disbelieve[d]
كَمَثَلِ
kamathali
(is) like (the) example
ٱلَّذِى
alladhī
(of) the one who
يَنْعِقُ
yanʿiqu
shouts
بِمَا
bimā
at what
لَا
lā
not
يَسْمَعُ
yasmaʿu
(does) hear
إِلَّا
illā
except
دُعَآءًۭ
duʿāan
calls
وَنِدَآءًۭ ۚ
wanidāan
and cries
صُمٌّۢ
ṣummun
deaf
بُكْمٌ
buk'mun
dumb
عُمْىٌۭ
ʿum'yun
(and) blind
فَهُمْ
fahum
[so] they
لَا
lā
(do) not
يَعْقِلُونَ
yaʿqilūna
understand
﴾171﴿
