Adam (as) in Paradise and the plot of Iblees

Allah allowed Adam (as) to live in Paradise and created a wife for him to bring him comfort and tranquility. Her name was Hawa (Eve).  Allah then told Adam (as) that he can live in Paradise with his wife and enjoy everything within it, except eating from one particular tree, otherwise they would both become wrongdoers.

They both lived happily in Paradise, but Iblees was plotting against them. He whispered to Adam (as) again and again and said O Adam(as), can I show you the tree that if you eat from it then you will never die and you will have an everlasting kingdom”. Iblees kept whispering until one day Adam (as) and Hawa (Eve) forgot the warning of Allah that it was prohibited, and made the mistake of eating from the tree. Immediately after they ate, their private parts became exposed, so they reached for tree leaves to cover themselves. They both repented and asked Allah for forgiveness using a beautiful dua:

"Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers." (Surah Al-A’raf, 7:23)

Allah is the most merciful and loves those who repent and seek forgiveness after sinning, so He forgave both of them.

Lesson:

Iblees will always try and make us sin, and as humans, sometimes we will fall into his tricks. He will not give up, rather, he will keep trying in different ways until he succeeds. We must remember that Allah has promised to forgive all our sins as long as we repent and ask for His forgiveness.  There are four things required when asking for forgiveness:

·       We admit our sin

·       Have regret over it

·       Ask Allah to forgive it

·       Promise never to do it again
